Inter-County 3 Way [Devon v Great Western v Kernow]
Devon President - John Thatcher 27 July 2026
ISCA Pétanque Club and Pétanque Devon were delighted to host the annual 3-Way Inter-Regional Competition at the ISCA Centre.
This friendly, yet fiercely competitive, event brings together teams from three Pétanque England regions – Devon, Kernow and Great Western – and has become a popular fixture in the regional calendar. Players from Great Western and Kernow made an early start to travel to central Devon for a full day of competition.
Following the recent spell of exceptionally hot weather, the players welcomed an overcast start to the day before the clouds gave way to the sunshine that has become a familiar feature of this summer.
Play began at 10.00 am, with each region fielding six triples teams. Over six timed rounds, every team faced opponents from the other two regions in a series of closely contested matches. While a few games were decided comfortably before the 50-minute time limit, many were hard-fought encounters that went right to the final end.
At the conclusion of the six rounds, Kernow recorded 9 wins, Devon finished with 18 wins, and Great Western once again demonstrated their strength by securing 27 wins to retain the Regional Shield. Congratulations to Great Western on another excellent performance.
The three regions now look forward to meeting again at the Pétanque England Inter-Regional Championships, to be held at Weston-super-Mare on 5–6 September.
